Tech Pom Spotlight: Caroline McBride


Caroline McBride is featured in our Tech Pom Spotlight! Caroline is a freshman from Denver, Colorado where she attended Thunder Ridge High School. This is her first year  on the squad.  She is majoring in psychology with a minor in forensic sciences. She is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and enjoys cooking. Her favorite movie is "The Notebook"  and favorite style of dance is jazz. Congratulations to Caroline for being in our Tech Pom Spotlight!

Spirit Squads' End of Year Dinner




To celebrate the end of the season, Tech Pom and Tech Cheer hosted their annual end-of-year dinner at 50-Yard Line Steakhouse. Spirit members were recognized for their years of service with the spirit program and various spirit awards voted on by fellow spirit squad members. Seniors received framed uniforms and pictures to commemorate their time with the spirit program at Tech. Seniors included Jasmine Arnold and Richard Dunn from cheer, and Kasey Mohler and Briana Vela from pom. The dinner is a chance for every spirit squad member to get together and reflect over the past season, as well as recognize members for all of their hard work and dedication. Thanks to Tech Pom and Cheer for an amazing 2011-2012 season!!

Tech Pom Spotlight: Peyton Ratliff


Peyton Ratliff is in our Tech Pom Spotlight! Peyton is a sophomore from Victoria, TX, where she attended Victoria High School. This is her second year on Pom. Peyton is majoring in psychology with a minor in exercise sports sciences. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. Her hobbies include hunting, dancing and shopping. An interesting fact about Peyton is she is an only child. Her favorite movie is Burlesque, favorite color is purple, favorite band the Randy Rogers Band, and favorite dance style is contemporary. Tech Pom would like to thank Peyton for all of her hard work and dedication to the squad the past two years and congratulations for being in the Tech Pom Spotlight!

Tech Spring Game


Tech Pom attended the Tech Football Spring Game to cheer on the Raiders as they showed off their talents for next season. This was the last time the squad cheered on the field this year. The Red and Black teams did an awesome job and Tech Pom looks forward to what next football season will bring! WRECK 'EM TECH!

Tech Pom Spotlight: Kelsey Schneider


Tech Pom Spotlight is on Kelsey Schneider! Kelsey is a Freshman from Garwood, TX. This is Kelsey's first year on pom. She attended Seven Lakes High School. Her major is sociology and she is a member of Alpha Lambda Theta. An interesting fact is that Kelsey likes to HUNT! Her favorite movie is Bridesmaids, favorite song is Crazy Girl, favorite band is the Josh Abbott Band, favorite color is purple, and favorite dance style is contemporary. We appreciate all of Kelsey's hard work this season! Congratulations on being in our Tech Pom Spotlight!!

Big XII Tournament





The Texas Tech Pom Squad traveled to Kansas City, MO March 6-10 to cheer on our Lady Raider and Red Raider basketball teams in the Big 12 Tournament. The Red Raiders faced the Oklahoma State Cowboys in round one. The Lady Raiders made it into round 2 to play the Baylor Bears after defeating the University of Texas Longhorns in round one. Tech Pom was excited to have the opportunity to support our Tech basketball teams in the Big 12 Tournament, and we look forward to next year's basketball season!

Tech Pom College Prep Dance Clinic

The Texas Tech Pom Squad held a College Prep Dance Clinic this past March for dancers interested in auditioning. Girls high school through college from all around Texas attended the clinic to learn new skills and get information on the 2012-2013 Pom Squad try-outs. Dance technique, including kicks, leaps and turns, the Tech Fight Song and a short jazz/hip-hop routine were taught by pom members at the clinic. Tech Pom was happy to share their love of dance and Texas Tech with the girls at the clinic and look forward to the upcoming auditions!

Tech Pom Spotlight: Kortani Rettig

Kortani Rettig is in this week's Tech Pom Spotlight! Kortani is a sophomore Early Childhood Education major with a minor in dance. Kortani graduated from Horn High School in Dallas, TX. Her hobbies include dance, shopping and eating. Her favorite artist is Beyonce, favorite dance style is hip-hop, and favorite color is pink. Kortani's favorite quote is "We walk by faith, not by sight," 2 Corinthians 5:7. Tech Pom would like to thank Kortani for her hard work and dedication this year on the squad. Senior Night

Texas Tech Pom Squad seniors Briana Vela and Kasey Mohler were recognized at the senior Red Raider basketball game Saturday, March 3. Briana is a four-year veteran from Lubbock, TX, graduating with a degree in Public Relations. Kasey is a two-year veteran also from Lubbock, TX, graduating with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. After graduation, Briana would like to pursue a career in sports public relations. Kasey plans to attend the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center 2nd Degree Nursing program and go on to pursue a Nurse Practitioner degree. The Texas Tech Pom Squad would like to congratulate these seniors on their accomplishments and wish them luck in all of their future endeavors! Happy graduation to Briana and Kasey!

Tech Pom Spotlight: LaShey Lanford



Lashey Lanford is in this week's Tech Pom Spotlight! LaShey is a junior middle-level education math/science major from Allen, Texas. She graduated from Allen High School in 2009. She was a member of her dance studio's competitive company throughout high school. This is LaShey's 3rd year on the pom squad. Her hobbies include dance, shopping and taking care of her dog Brodii. An interesting fact about LaShey is that she LOVES math! Her favorite movie is The Notebook, favorite type of music is country and favorite dance style is contemporary. Be sure to look for her on the basketball court at the next Tech basketball game!
